Ferry to Martha's Vineyard

Traditional Ferry M/V East Chop
The Hy-Line also sails to the lovely island of
Martha's Vineyard several times a day during the summer. Click
here for Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Ferry Schedule
Like the
trip to Nantucket the cruising time is about two and a half hours.
I am often asked the question, "which island
is better?" You could ask a hundred Cape Codders that
question and the response would probably be evenly divided
between the two islands. I would be happy to tell you (in
private) which Island I prefer. Some differences as I see them:
Nantucket:
The boat docks at the main village. Although a
guide tour is nice it is far from necessary on Nantucket. It is
easy to see some sights by renting a bicycle on Nantucket. Great
shopping and great restaurants abound. Visit the Whaling Museum
Martha's Vineyard:
There are many picturesque villages beyond where
the boat leaves you on the Vineyard. Be sure to take a guided
tour, rent a car on the island, or use the public transit. There
is much to see on Martha's Vineyard - wonderful fishing villages
and of course the Cliffs at Gay Head

Nantucket Ferry |
Here you can see the big car ferry leaving for
Nantucket. This photo was taken from the balcony at the Harbor
House Inn. The ferry passes by both of Hyannis' beaches several
times a day.
